Choosing Your TilesWhilst we work closely with suppliers to select our stone and take great care to show representative displays, images and samples, a degree of natural variation is beyond our control and will obviously occur. To help deal with this variation, it is important that you familiarise yourself with the character of your chosen stone before ordering. Please ensure enough stone is ordered initially, as variation can occur over time as stone deposits are worked through. You must also ensure your stone installer blends the shades of the tiles when fixing. We offer some of our stones in a variety of different finishes. The different finishes will alter the shades of an individual stone, for example when a stone is ‘polished’ the colour is intensified and when a stone is ‘tumbled’ the colour is more subtle. Shade variation can occur with different sizes of the same stone. Fissures, minor blemishes and edge chipping are characteristics of many of our stones. These are naturally inherent features and are not deemed as defects and once fitted and grouted such characteristics become part of the character of the finished floor. Stone tiles are often packed wet and do not dry out until they are physically unpacked, therefore your stone may appear darker in shade until thoroughly dry. Our stone tiles may vary slightly in terms of overall size and thickness. This may be due to their rustic nature, worn edge finish and because stone cutting blades wear during the finishing process. Therefore all sizes listed on our price lists are nominal. Most of our flooring tiles are supplied to you in their raw and natural state. Once fitted and sealed your tiles will have a far more finished appearance. For more information on fixing, sealing and maintenance please refer to the relevant sections. |
